Links embedded in PDF take long time to load in browser

For some reason when I try to click a link in a PDF file, Acrobat seems to freeze(unresponsive and entire program window goes washed out) and the link eventually loads in my web browser(Chrome). It takes about a minute for the link to open up.

I am using a Windows 10 64 bit machine with the latest Acrobat Pro DC software.

I have tried Protected View-Off and Enable Enhanced Security- Unchecked with no luck.

Any other suggestions to speed up web links?

Thanks,

Toby

I was able to fix the problem. In Preferences > Security (Enhanced), I unchecked "Enable Enhanced Security" and also checked both "Automatically trust documents with valid certification" and "Automatically trust sites from my Win OS security zones"

Links now open right away. Thanks for the advise to change security preferences.

Do you have Acrobat installed and manages with the Creative Cloud Desktop App?

If yes, disable to test Acrobat by itself. As I am running out of ideas, I don't think this has nothing to do with a fix that Adobe needs to provide for Acrobat or not.

This seems to be a problem on how some users are using Acrobat with specific configuration settings.

I would suggest to create a new user account in your computer and try Acrobat in a new user account other than the current user profile.

I would also recommend running the Creative Cloud Repair tool, specially for those users who have the Creative Cloud Desktop app, specially if they're sharing content between Acrobat and other Adobe programs via cloud services.

For those who have Adobe Reader DC installed with Adobe Acrobat in the same computer, what happens when the same PDF is used with Reader DC and the links are opened using that program instead of Acrobat Pro?

And what happens if you just copy and paste one of those links from that PDF and paste it directly in a web browser? Does the same delay occur?

Did not work for me either. my workaround is to hold control when clicking link. This will open it in Acrobat but not browser.

That "fix" is not the answer. Doesn't work for us and many others. Should not be marked as the answer.

I also have this problem. It even occurs with the links provided by Acrobat in the "Accessibility Reports." The suggestion to uncheck "Enable Enhanced Security" does not work for me either. In fact, that box was not ever checked in my preferences. This does not seem to be an issue with Acrobat Reader DC, which I also have loaded. Any news on what's causing it for Creative Cloud Acrobat?

I've ran out of ideas.

Maybe disabling Protected Mode at Startup?

I noticed something that may help someone isolate the problem. If I set default browser to Microsoft Edge or old version of Safari for Windows, links open right away. If I switch it to Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer, it freezes when a link is clicked.

Changing to Edge as default browser did not help us either.
