Making Hand Tool the Default Choice

Explorer ,
Jun 08, 2018 Jun 08, 2018

In Adobe Acrobat Professional, after I select the Select Tool, close the document, and open another document, the Select Tool is selected in the opened document. (The program remembers the tool which was last used.) Is there a way to make all documents open with the hand tool selected by default, regardless of what tool was selected the last time?

I have tried to put a check mark beside “Make hand tool select text & images” in the General category, but the program still remembers the tool which was used last time.

I do, too! But I keep the Selection tool and use the keyboard shortcut of Cmd + Drag (Mac) or Ctrl + Drag (Windows). Try that while you look for another solution, which you may or may not find.

  • I don't write any script, and can't help with that. There is a JavaScript forum, and they may be able to tell you if one exists, or you may be able to hire someone to write something (if it is actually possible.)

Hi vladk5779022,

Not out of the box. The Select tool is the Default tool in Acrobat.

There might be a way to do it with a script.

Otherwise, enable your single key accelerators in Preferences, and type "H" for Hand when you go to a new document.

I'm curious as to why you want the Hand tool as the Default, though?

I often use the Hand tool to move big or magnified pages. How can scripts be written for the program?
