The "recently used" list in Acrobat or Reader is just that, a list of files that you've used recently. It is not the actual files. When you move a file (or delete it) that is in this list, and then you try to open the file again, Acrobat (or Reader) can no longer find that file - and you get the error message you've seen. This does not mean that the file is necessarily lost, it just means that it's no longer where the application is expecting it to be. You will have to either - if you remember where you moved the file to - use the "File>Open" function and then navigate to that file, or search for the file and open it that way.

The file I worked on for two weeks doing extensive revisions, completely vanished. No trace. For no Reason. The file has been saved every five minutes, I was extremely careful, since this is the most important professional project I have. This is a MAJOR BUG for the ADOBE ACROBAT PRO for which I pay 29.99 USD a month. I am trying to get a real solution or description of the problem from Adobe that recognizes this is a software bug and NOT to blame the user. That way, we can get to a solution, which may also include the possibility of not using the platform for projects that involve dozens of people and have deadlines attached to them. The file ----saved --- simply disappeared. The name was there in the folder with 0KB next to it. It disappeared from the recent list when I tried to open it, then it disappeared from the searches. It is almost as if a hacker was deliberately deleting the file. Scary. Never had this experience with any file on any software.
