I’m fairly new at editing PDF files, but my job sprung this one not too long ago.
I’m learning as I go, but I seem to be having trouble understanding how or if you can edit a PDF this way.
I don’t think a PDF file works like a spread sheet in that you can’t you can’t change the width of a column. Well, at least I’ve had no luck trying to do that.
I’ve attached 2 pictures to hopefully show what I’m trying to do. In the edit1 picture, you can should be able to see sentence 3. I need to add more space between 3 & 4. Adding the space I can do, but seems the text box under sentence 5 doesn’t move along with the additional spacing you do.
I move the text box but all the sentences stay where they are. Is there any way to move the sentences along w/ moving the text box?
Does Adobe see the text as pictures?
The other picture, edit 2, shows columns, and I’d like to be able to adjust the width of the columns to give the column that where time is entered some more space.
Any ideas?
Thanks

PDF documents are not spreadsheets, word processing documents, image files, etc. but they can contain elements of all these file types as independent objects within the PDF structure. PDF files also consist of different layers that are independent of each other but stacked on top of each other. It is possible that a PDF can consist of an image of a text document, but the text cannot be edited until the image has been OCRd, Optical Character Recognized, and saved as PDF with text tat could be text on a page or hidden text under an image of the text. The ISO, International Standards Organization, maintains the PDF standard and it is available to the pubic for purchase.
One can edit the text content of the file by using the "Edit" tool but this tool cannot edit form fields.
Form fields are edited by using the "Prepare form" tool and selecting the individual form fields or a group of form fields to edit. Note that editing individual and groups of form fields makes available different options base on the type of field(s) .
You can move the columns of your table over as a group using the "Prepare form" tool. And then exit that tool and open the "Edit" tool to realign the column headings and move the "am/pm" indicators.
You should be aware that the "Time" format for text fields does provide many options for entering the time value including the morning or afternoon as well as the civilian 24 hour time formats, so there is no need to include the am/pm indicators.
Many of use have found it is far easier to edited the source document and change the content layer of the PDF to create a new PDF and then replace the pages of the form PDF and realign the form fields than trying to edit the PDF.
