New Here ,
Jun 12, 2023 Jun 12, 2023

Hi

I am using Acrobat Reader DC (32 bit)

There are multiple AcroRdrDCUpd .msi and .msp files taking up space on my computer - adding up to 2.5 GB

(see picture attached)

How can I safely remove them?

Thanks!

Joe

Each of these is a separate update to Acrobat Reader. There are a lot of these - perhaps 10 in a typical year. I would not recommend removing them, it might make it very difficult to uninstall or even to update in future. You also have MSI files, and I'd expect only one, unless you keep installing Reader, rather than letting it auto update.

Thank you for your answer

I see no reason for acrobat reader to take 2.5 GB  (Over 1 GB of .MSI files and over 1 GB of .MSP files)

I have to remove them somehow

Perhaps the solution is removing/uninstalling the software completely

It is safe to delete all these files and subfolders under ..\ARM folder in your image.

Uninstalling Reader will not remove them; they are downloaded by Updater and Windows Installer Service is not aware of these files.

The main question remains why they are not removed by Updater. Unless you changed default full auto Updater mode, it is possible that something prevents Updater to proceed with installation after files are downloaded.

If you do not have highly customized Reader installation, delete all the files (under ARM folder), uninstall Reader and install latest from Adobe.com

This is the quality of ереу software we deserved...

I have 3 Win11 laptops and the issue persists on all of them. No customization was done for it. The only desire is to delete Acrobat Reader on them completely!

Adobe, can you please STOP doing this? for GOD sake!

8 GB eaten on 1 computer by this sh*t and 3+ on another (after ARM was already deleted in Feb 2024).

I agree with Alexander, there seems to be an excessive amount of useless and harmful trash buildup in the ARM folder:

   C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ARM

I removed over 5 GB of subfolders under the above folder and Acrobat still works.

So, why so much trash buildup in the C: drive where space is precious? This seems to be an overall problem with Adobe app installations, they are space-hogs in the C: folder and it is difficult if not currently impossible to configure the Adobe apps to reside under another letter drive, such as D: drive or any other drive beside the C: drive. Some apps allow some customization of storage and cache space, but others still insist on taking up large chunks of the C: drive. This is a big problem on a Windows machine and is very irritating.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting your conerns to Adobe.

Could you please confirm on the Acrobat/Reader version you have. This problem is already addressed some time back and should not happen with latest version of the app.

Hi @Gohper

Sorry for the delayed response. Following up to check if the issue is still happening at your end.

If yes, please help us with the following:

- Is this happening at the same location?

- Help us with the verbose logs on the same machine: Please check the MSI installer command here for verbose logging: https://adobe.ly/4dlIIrw. You may try installing a couple of patches and then share the logs. Please upload the logs to any Cloud Drive and share a download link with us.

Will be waiting for your response.
