Viking, sorry you cannot update Acrobat. What happens when you click on Details? For more information on how to resolve Error 1603 see https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1603-install-cs3-cs4.html

It takes me to the Adobe website listing a bunch of different error messages and how to correct them based on the error message, but none of the error messages match the one I am getting so I am confused as to what to do.

Can we ask for Acrobat version you have?

Error 1603 is general error returned by MSI (Windows Installer Service) to Acrobat Updater.

I would start from

1. Enable MSI verbose logging (Google for instructions)

2. Try manual update again

3. Collect and send me (upload somewhere and provide a link) latest MSIxxxx.log file from current User Temp folder.

This will give us some idea of why MSI failed.

That said, most likely the best solution (only if you have installation source and valid subscription)  is to uninstall Acrobat completely, reinstall again and try to update.
