Whenever I type a character (whether in Edit PDF or comment), I get a popup error saying "No dictionaries were found. your installation might be corrupted." When I close the popup, the rest of the session runs fine, and I don't get the error message until the next time I start a session and try to type something. I have run the repair tool from the installation software, and it didn't fix this error.
Any idea how to fix this?

This worked for me on windows 11 * 10-26-2021
Go to Edit : Click Preferences
: Click Security ( Enhanced )
: In sandbox Protected mode at startup (preview) " UNCLICK "
: Restart Adobe
: Then Check, Edit ,Prefrences , check Spelling to See if works
IF works : Turn back on in sandbox protected mode at startup " CLICK ON "
: Restart Adobe
Should be golden 🙂

I tried lots of different suggestions found in a Google search. Even uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing worked and I was very frustrated. The steps recommended by kimberlySE31 actually solved the problem. I thought the steps sounded confusing when I first read them. Then as I was actually doing the steps in Adobe, they made perfect sense. I'm surprised the solution is this easy. Thank you!!!

This does work. Thank you!
BUT, it's not a permanent fix-- the problem is back the next day. There's a bug in the Acrobat DC program that makes it unable to load or recognize it's own dictionaries. If you get the "No dictionalies found.." error message, go to Preferences> Spelling, youll notice there is no dictionary listed, and the buggy program will not let you add a dictionary either. nice. Wonder if they'll fix this bug? they usually make us solve their problems

Same here, Michael. It works as long as I had DC open but the issue was back again.
It is time to get this fixed... It has been SIX YEARS since the original post.

FYI, it's 2025. I just installed DC with an update, nonetheless. The "No Dictionaries" error still exists. Guess that's not on Adobe's to-do list yet. 😞

Hello!
I hope you are doing well, and we apologize for the trouble and delayed response.
Did you try the security settings preference? If not, please uncheck "Run in AppContainer" from Menu > Security > Preferences and restart the app and the machine. Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.2043x Optional update, Mar 19, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and check. For more information, see this: https://adobe.ly/3Ya2jUX
Let us know if you experience any issues.
Thanks,
Anand Sri.

Didn't work for me.
I opened up Acrobat today and starting working as normally but everything is changed. I guess they made changes to the interface. Now I can't add or edit text. This fix did not work for me and I'm stuck.

For me all is good while "Run in AppContainer" is off. Makes half sense, because dictionaries are probably not in that container. Protected Mode can stay on.

If all else fails, try "run as administrator." This workaround worked for me.
