Open more than 50 PDF files simultaneously

I am working with many pdf files using Acrobat Pro DC. I tried to open all of them and go back and forth to edit or make annotations on them. But when I open more than 50 pdfs simultaneously, I get error message saying that I cannot open them anymore. I think my computer has enough memory and cpu power to handle more than the limit. Is there any option or preference setting to increase the limit of concurrent tabs?

I don't think so. Maybe through some obscure Registry setting...

Hmm... Then I might have to give up... Thank you for your opinion.

I am wondering the same thing, did you end up having any luck?

The question I have is why would you even consider opening that many PDF files at one time?

I had to do meta-analysis among many scientific papers. Backward and forward tracking were required so I had to open many tabs. It is possible to close some tabs and open other PDFs but opening them all at the same time is more efficient for my work.

You can open files in Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat.

I believe Bernd is suggesting opening 25 files in Acrobat and 25 files in Reader.

I tried to open 50 PDFs at once and got the message about too many files.

I opened 50 PDFs one at a time until 50 tabs were open, and did not see the message.

(Mac, Acrobat version 2021.001.20142)

If the PDFs are complex and opening slowly, you can try making a copy and running an action to save as an optimized PDF (applying the action to the folder) to reduce the size.
