opening a pdf in adobe instead of browser

New Here ,

I have several forms that my employees need to view and complete from our online portal but when they open them they only open in the browser which doesn't give them the ability to sign and fill or to use the Submit button that i have created.  There's no way i am able to tell each person to change the settings on their particular browser. Is there a way to set up the document so anyone opening it from any browser has the ability to complete it and submit it??  I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017

Hi,

Currently 'Fill and Sign' is not supported through browser and there's no way to set it up in document. The only workaround is the one you have already mentioned, i.e disable the browser plugin so that it directly launches the PDF in Acrobat/Reader. Hope that helps.

Soumik

Has there been any further progress to resolve this issue? I'm having a very similar issue, where we have PDF's linked on our webpage, that when opened through the Adobe Plugin on Chrome or Edge, lose their digital signature functionality.

I'm hoping there's something I can do with the properties of the document that would force the PDF to be opened in Adobe versus in the browser that would be more of a global solution versus having to tell each user how to update their browser settings.
