Pasting from Excel to Acrobat problem

Community Expert ,
Mar 10, 2022 Mar 10, 2022

I created a program that requires copying a column from Excel and pasting it to mult-line text field in a popup dialog.  I have never had problem myself (either with righ-click>paste or Ctrl +v in Windows).  I am starting to get reports from customers that they can't paste from Excel into the window in the popup dialog.  Although this workaround works for them:  Copy from Excel, paste into Notepad, copy from Notepad, and paste into the dialog field.  So it doesn't work directly from Excel but works from Excel to Notepad to the PDF.  Does anybody know what is preventing the direct copy/paste?

I figured it out:

Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)

Uncheck "Enable protected view at startup" and then restart Acrobat.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

What happens when the user tries to copy and paste the text into the PDF file? Do they get any error message? If yes, please share the screenshot of the same for a better understanding? A small video recording of the same would be very helpful.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC they are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure they have the recent version 22.1.20085 installed. Go to help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also check for any missing/pending updates for MS office and see if that helps.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

Also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check .

Regards

Amal

Nothing happens when Ctrl + v is pressed.  No error.  When right-clicking, "paste" is disabled.  Adobe versions are all up-to-date.  The problem is not PDF specific.  I believe it is a problem with the Excel clipboard.  They can paste to Notepad and then copy and paste from Notepad without issues.

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that. Would you mind collecting the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html and Procmon logs (Win) https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html and share them via document cloud link as described here https://helpx.adobe.com/document-cloud/help/sharing-pdfs.html  for further investigation?

Regards

Amal
