Hello,
I have a client that I have been working with to investigate an issue where the context menu convert to PDF option creates PDF's with mostly blank pages. I have gone through the built in Adobe pro repair. uninstalled and reinstalled all Adobe products and done a clean uninstall and reinstall.
I used Windows process monitor to determine that the acrotray.exe service is what was handling that conversion from the context menu. I also tried deleting that service, repaired Adobe which recreated the acrotray.exe service and attempted the same conversion but it did not help.
We have been converting Word documents and if you open the document and use the Adobe PDF printer or the Save as PDF function it works but our client likes to convert files in bulk which is much easier through the context menu.
I have also tried Word documents from multiple sources and created test documents all with the same results.
Any ideas or recommendations for what actions I can try next to fix that process?

This seems to be a recurring issue tied to how AcroTray.exe integrates with Microsoft Office, especially during bulk conversions through the context menu. You've already covered a lot, which is great troubleshooting.
Here are a few more suggestions you can try:
1. Check Adobe PDF Settings:
Go to Adobe Acrobat > Preferences > Convert to PDF, select Microsoft Word, then click Edit Settings. Make sure it's not set to omit images or embedded content.
2. Try a Clean User Profile:
Create a new Windows user profile and test the same conversion process. Sometimes user-specific registry or permission issues can impact AcroTray behavior.
3. Disable Background Add-ins:
Run winword /safe to launch Word in safe mode and try converting via the context menu. Some Office add-ins silently conflict with the PDF generation process.
4. Batch Convert via Adobe Tools Instead:
If the context menu remains unstable, using Adobe’s Action Wizard in Acrobat Pro might help for bulk conversion with better reliability.
🔗 Pro Tip:
If you’re testing PDF generation functionality or sharing menus or price lists as PDFs (as some businesses do), ensure you're using clean source files. Here's an example reference:
Cheesecake Factory Menu with Prices PDF – properly formatted PDF files avoid rendering issues and blank pages during conversion.
