PDF File opened from a website in a browser

Hi

Say we have a PDF and we remediate it and it works well with keyboard and screen readers in Adobe Acrobat. Now that PDF is made available as a link in a website and when link is clicked, opens the PDF in browser. I see that there are some issues in PDF opened in browser like all headings are announced as Heading level 2 (say Chrome/NVDA) inspite of having different heading levels in Acrobat. Is this a known issue with PDF files opening in browser? Should we just suggest users to use Adobe Acrobat to consume the file?

Thanks

@hammer0909 Kindly respond if you are aware of this issue and if there is any known fix. Or if its just a limitation of PDFs that they are not read well from browser.

> Is this a known issue with PDF files opening in browser?

- There are many known issues with PDFs opened in third-party viewers. This could very well be another one.

> Should we just suggest users to use Adobe Acrobat to consume the file?

- Yes. Although you should recommend they use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. There's no need to pay for Acrobat just for this.

It is always an issue reading a PDF opened in a web browser. This is a known issue and we always recommend that users open the file in Acrobat not within the browser.
