Hi - I have a form that I needed to add another checkbox to. The checkbox becomes a circle with a check mark when clicked. I copied an existing checkbox but when I went into the properties to change the name the new checkbox becomes a square instead of the circle. I can't see any difference in the properties anywhere. Help!

In Prepare Form mode, right-click each one of these fields, select Properties, then Options and check what is selected under "Check Box Style".

You're checkbox uses a custom appearance that was created by another application, not Acrobat. InDesign maybe? When a change is made to the checkbox properties in Acrobat, Acrobat replaces the custom appearances with it's own.
There is no easy solution to maintaining a custom appearance and being change the name, although it can be done. Basically the changes to the checkbox field need to be made outside of Acrobat's form tools. One solution is to create you're own plug-in for this purpose, another is to use an existing plug-in that provides access to the field names. PDF CanOpener can do this because it provides access to the entire PDF internal structure. But you'd need to know how find the field name in this structure to use it. https://www.windjack.com/product/pdfcanopener/
