I have an HP printer which I purchased in May of this year. I am using Windows 10 as my operating system, and have the latest version of Adobe Reader on my system so I can open pdfs. Shortly after I bought it, the printer occasionally acted up when I tried to print out a pdf, but 95% of the time, there was no problem. When it acts up, it prints one or two pages of the pdf document, and then goes haywire, printing out page after page after page (as in, half a ream of paper or better, not to mention the toner that is wasted) of a few lines of gobbledy gook. I have contacted HP several times. The first time, I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone while they remotely took control and supposedly fixed the connection between my computer and printer. It continued to have the problem. The next time I contacted them, I spent an hour on the phone with them, and they told me the problem was my computer, not the printer (by the way, the computer is only a few months old). My computer tech then downloaded any updates for the printer and checked all the configurations, and the printer continued to misbehave. I then spent 2 hours on the phone with HP, asking how I replace the printer (which is still under warranty), only to be told that the problem is my computer. After that two hours of them reconfiguring whatever they felt then needed to in order to make it work properly, it did it again three days later. Yesterday afternoon, it again malfunctioned, and again I called HP, who is now telling me that the problem is with Adobe, and that I have to uninstall and reinstall the app. In the meantime, I cannot get my printer to stop printing nonsense. I have cancelled the job on the screen on the computer. I have unplugged the printer and then plugged it back in. I have tried to delete the job by way of the computer, but the computer does not show a job in progress. And of course, without a printer, I cannot get work done.
Anybody ever heard of this problem? And may I say, it is ridiculous that there is no phone number to call for help.

Hi Sheryld,
As you have mentioned above that the printer does not behave in the proper manner, it does not seems to be the Adobe issue.
However, we can try checking out this.
Could you please let us know if this issue occurs only when you print files from Adobe Acrobat Reader DC?
Did you experience this issue with other application? Try to check with other application.
Print files from other application and check if you experience the same issue.
Also, go through this help document Troubleshoot PDF printing in Acrobat and Reader
Check if it can help in any way.
Please try the steps as mentioned above and let us know how it goes.
Let us know if you have any questions or need any help.
Regards,
Meenakshi

As meenakshin83966505 says, it's quite improbable that the problem lies with Acrobat.
You can, however, try the "Print as image", my general fix for most of the Acrobat problems. The option was not enabled with me, when I had the "Print in grayscale" checked.
I think the handshake with your computer/printer is not working. This may happen, when the wrong printer driver is installed. It's very easy to get confused with that, because mostly, but not always, Windows detects the correct printer. If it does not, it installs wrong drivers.
What you could try in addition to above workarounds is the following:
