PDF with font issues - fixing to enable text extract

Hi

I regularly receive pdfs of postcards with contact names and addresses. I need to extract the address from the pdf, do some sorting, and then re-sort the pdf into a new order.

What I've found with some pdfs I receive is that I can't extract the text - I use a command-line program called pdftotext (I've tried alternatives with similar results, including Acrobat) and it gives me an error 'Mismatch between font type and embedded font file.

I can fix the error by running 'fix potential font issues' from Acrobat's PreFlight menu - that removes the error message, but unfortunately the resulting text only contains the background text of the pdf, not the names and addresses (which is where the font problem was).

The report from PreFlight is below. Can anyone suggest a way I can fix the font problem and be able to extract the text? - I have no control at all over how the pdf is created, so cannot go back to the person who generated it unfortunately, I'm stuck with working with what I have.
