PDFs moving/opening problem

Community Beginner ,

Hello,

Since yesterday, whenever I click on a pdf in Windows Exploror I get an Adobe Acrobat "Internal Error" pop-up. I am still able to open the files in Acrobat DC but it is very slow to open.

Also, I am only able to select one pdf at a time in Explorer and it's very slow to register. I cannot, for example, select 3 pdfs and click-and-drag them, because I get an Adobe Acrobat pop-up for every file. See attached.

I have tried re-starting and uninstalling/reinstalling

I'd check first to see if there are any updates for Acrobat, ensuring you have the latest release. It may be an issue with Windows, not Acrobat.  But ensuring all Adobe and Microsoft software in play is current is a good first step, I think.

Thanks yes they are up to date. The problem is the same one desribed in this thread from 2020. Some users there fixed it temporarily by uninstalling/reinstalling but that didn't work for me:

UPDATE:

It has fixed itself, even though I can't tell that anything has been updated recently. I turned off the preview panel in explorer, which sped all of the interactions up but didn't remove the error pop-up, and now a few days later I can open the preview panel and operate as normal without a popup.

It just un-fixed itself. Error occurs with the preview panel open again and cannot move .pdf files in explorer until I ctrl-alt-del and force close acrobat

The preview panel can be both a great thing and a problem at times!
