PDFs won't open in Acrobat Pro DC

New Here ,
Sep 26, 2017 Sep 26, 2017

I subscribe to Acrobat Pro DC through Creative Suite and it has suddenly stopped opening pdfs. The application is open, but it will not open any pdf documents. I double-click files: nothing. I try to open files within the application: nothing. I've uninstalled (via Creative Cloud) and reinstalled; I've checked preferences; I've rebooted multiple times. Nothing. Can anyone help?

If you are not getting any error message, and the PDF file you tried to open is not being displayed, try to select "Window>Tile>..." and see if that brings up the document.

Hi Rogerp,

As you the PDF are not opening in the application, did you try the steps provided in reply 3 above?

If not, launch the application on the MacBook Air and open some PDFs.

Then go to Window option at top of the screen and select Tile from the drop-down list.

Check if that resolves the issue.

If the issue still persists, please let us know what exactly happens when you open the PDF?

Do you get any error message?

Is it an issue with all the PDFs you are trying to open in the application?

Are you using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC or the Acrobat DC to open the PDFs?

What is the application version installed on the Mac? Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Also, share the Mac OS version.

Let us know if you need any help or have any questions.

Regards,

Meenakshi

The product is Acrobat Pro DC, Version 2019.010.20064. It is a Macbook

Air with MacOS Mojave, Version 10.14.2. On an Intel PC and a Macbook Pro

where this launches I noticed within Chrome which right now is my default

browser there is an adobe pdf extension that doesn't exist on the MacBook

Air even after installing the Adobe Pro DC and Microsoft Office. Does

this matter?

We did go to Chrome advanced settings and change the setting so Chrome

would launch the PDF reader not the preview application but it still

launches preview. Thanks for your help!

Hi Rogerp,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Please try once to update the application and check if that resolves the issue.

Launch Acrobat and go to Help > Check for updates.

You may refer this help link Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader for more details on the latest updates available.

If the issue still occurs, try once to reset the application preferences.

Take help of the steps mentioned here How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Adobe has the most recent update, using Finder we did not locate the

preferences files your document suggested moving. We can access

Preferences directly from Adobe if there are certain preferences that we

should reset.

Thank You
