Printing a booklet to a pdf file instead of to a printer

I am trying to print a pdf as a booklet but I don't want it to go to the printer right now. I just want the booklet to save as a pdf. Not having any luck

Printing PDF to PDF does terrible things. It is not recommended or supported by Adobe and can’t be done at all in Mac.

If you can not print a booklet in PDF, then you need to create an A3 page and insert two A4's side by side.
But it's either a script or a special program.

To give you your options, I would need to get information on your possibilities. What Software do you have (Acrobat DC or Creative Cloud) on what system.

I personally would use Indesign to get the booklet.
