Printing from Chrome with Adobe- DPI Defaults to 300

Hi All,

Whenever I open a PDF in Chrome (via adobe specifically) the printing defaults to 300 DPI and comes out tiny. I have looked everywhere for where to change this but it's only with PDF files in Chrome.  It's not in chrome or printer settings. Any idea how to fix this?

Please try the steps below and see if that works for you:

1. Check Chrome’s Print Settings:

- When printing a PDF in Chrome (via Adobe), press Ctrl + P (Windows) or Cmd + P (Mac) to open the print dialog.
- Under More Settings, check the DPI option and adjust it to a higher value (e.g., 600 DPI).
- Ensure Fit to Page or Actual Size is selected instead of "Shrink to Fit."

2. Try Adobe Acrobat’s Web Viewer Instead of Chrome’s Default

- If Chrome is using its built-in PDF viewer, switch to Adobe Acrobat’s extension:
- Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/
- Locate Adobe Acrobat and ensure it is enabled.
- Open the PDF again and try printing.

3. Download the PDF and Print from Adobe Acrobat

- If the issue persists, try downloading the PDF and printing it directly from Adobe Acrobat/Reader instead of Chrome and see if that works.

Hi,

I checked Chrome's settings and I am printing from the web viewer. Something in the code is setting the default to 300DPI for some reason. I can manually change it but it's weird that this is happening.

If you are still looking for a solution, you might want to set the registry to keep the setting as you require.

• Location:

  The relevant registry key is usually found under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\General".
• Value to modify:

  The "PrintResolution" value within this key determines the default DPI setting for the Adobe PDF printer.
• Changing the value:

  • Open the Registry Editor on your Windows system.
  • Navigate to the specified registry key.
  • Double-click on the "PrintResolution" value.
  • Enter the desired DPI value (e.g., 300 for high-quality printing).
  • Click "OK" to save the change.

Hi Souvik,

I do not have a General folder. I checked all the other folders and it wasn't there either. Any other ideas where PrintResolution might be?
