Prompt to Scan Multiple Pages for a PDF No Longer Appears

Community Beginner ,

In using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI to create PDFs with my HP multifunction printer/scanner, I no longer get the prompt asking me if the scan is complete or if I want to scan multiple pages. Is that a setting in Adobe Acrobat, the printer software, or somewhere else? The box to prompt for scan multiple pages under Create - PDF from Scanner - Configure Presets for scanning is checked. How do I restore the prompt? Thanks

Hey Riverman,

The box to prompt for scan multiple pages under Create - PDF from Scanner - Configure Presets for scanning is checked. How do I restore the prompt?

From how long you have been experiencing this issue or when did you notice it? Also, are you referring to the checkbox shown in the screenshot showing below? After checking this, reboot your Acrobat once.

As per the Acrobat's internal settings, this is the only option that needs to be checked to get the prompt. You might need to check if t here is an option under the Scanner properties by going to system's Control Panel>Devices & Printers.

Also check the Printer/Scanner driver update once.

Thanks,

Akanchha

I have been experiencing this issue for about a week, since I deactivated my Adobe Acrobat Pro XI from my old laptop and installed it on a new Lenovo AIO desktop, together with a HP Photosmart C4400 AIO which I use for the scanning.

The screenshot shown in your reply looks different from mine. A snip of the Configure Presets dialogue box from my version of Adobe Acrobat is attached. I too suspected that the problem had something to do with the printer settings after installing in on the new computer, but I can find nothing in the Printer/Scanning settings about prompting or allowing for additional or multiple pages. Does anyone know if the settings for one or two sided printing have any bearing on it?

Hey Riverman,

Thanks for writing back. Unfortunately, we do not see any screenshot attached. You are correct, the settings might be different at your end as it Acrobat XI, buy functionality should be same.

Here is how you can attach the screenshot to your forum post: https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-7043#jive_content_id_How_do_I_attach_a_screenshot

Thanks,

Akanchha

We’ll try it again. The screenshot is a jpg file titled “Configure Presets Snip”. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HP printer, but the dialogue to scan more pages did not reappear.

Thanks,

Under Configure Presets in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, I set the scanner type to WIA – HP Photosmart… rather than to TWAIN, and my “Scan is Complete or Scan More Pages (Page 2) dialogue box has returned. I do not know the difference between these two settings, but that appears to be the cause of the loss of the scan-more-pages option. A SNIP showing the dialogue box is attached.

Was your question ever answered?  I came here looking for the same answer.  Just got a rebuild on a work computer and the prompt didn't come up.  Found out how to fix it on mine (Acrobat Pro DC).  File/Create/PDF From Scanner.  On the screen that comes up, it says Scan Using My Custom Settings.  Next to it is a gear symbol; click on that and the checkbox is there.  Hope this helps.
