"Cannot open file" error when batch converting excel files to pdf

Community Beginner ,

I am creating bill of material files in excel and I can save it as a pdf individually in excel but when I use Acrobat Pro and try to batch convert 15 files into pdf I keep getting the error 'cannot load file" and the conversion does not happen.

It is a pain to have to creaate the excel file, save it in excel to keep the original copy and then have to do a secondary save function 1 at a time to render it in pdf format. I would like to be able to create all of my excel file and then use the batch convert into multiple files as the functions is supposed to do.

Any ideas why this is happening?

I guess this isn't much of a community after all... a week without a single response

To resolve the "cannot load file" error when batch converting Excel files to PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro:

  1. Simplify Excel files: Save Excel files in a basic format like .xlsx, avoiding complex features like macros.
  2. Check file names and paths: Ensure file names don't have special characters and file paths aren't too long.
  3. Update Adobe Acrobat Pro: Ensure your software is up-to-date to fix potential bugs.
  4. Verify file permissions: Ensure you have proper access rights to the Excel files.
  5. Try alternatives: Use online tools or third-party software for batch conversion if Adobe Acrobat Pro continues to fail.
  6. Check log files: Look for error logs in Adobe Acrobat Pro for more specific details.
  7. Contact Adobe Support: Seek assistance if the issue persists after trying these steps.

Tried that

  1. Check file names and paths: Ensure file names don't have special characters and file paths aren't too long.

Tried that

  1. Update Adobe Acrobat Pro: Ensure your software is up-to-date to fix potential bugs.

I have the latest version

  1. Verify file permissions: Ensure you have proper access rights to the Excel files.

They're my files on my computer, of course I have permission to access them

  1. Try alternatives: Use online tools or third-party software for batch conversion if Adobe Acrobat Pro continues to fail.

There are no online tools that batch convert to multiple pdf that I can find.

Why should I buy 3rd party software when acrobat is expensive already and should work.

  1. Check log files: Look for error logs in Adobe Acrobat Pro for more specific details.

Where are these log files located? I cannot find them.

  1. Contact Adobe Support: Seek assistance if the issue persists after trying these steps

My application is licensed through the company I work for, they say I personally do not hold a license so they will not help me.

Can I please have actual helpfull solutions and actual instructions on how to edit any settings or procedures to solve this other than the generic troubleshooting list?

Here is a file name: S913.00.1XZL.11.001.xls

What in that document name is a problem? I also tried converting to .xlsx and that had no effect on the failure to open the file.

Do the files have to already be open? I tried that too.
