Please tell us more about your operating system and version, the software and version. Please use EXACT version numbers. "Latest version" does not tell us that you really have the latest version and will no more be true at the next version level.

Some things to try (if you haven't already done so) ...

Ensure your document has text, not a picture of  text  (e.g. scanned); Close and restart Acrobat; Ensure Acrobat is up to date; Restart PC. 

Once in a while Acrobat goes wonky on me and one these steps usually fixes things.
