Reading Preferences not saving

I'm trying to stop Adobe from reading my documents.  I've changed the preference in Read and Internet settings.  It doesn't stop doing it and when I go back into the settings, they are back how they originally were.  Help me please.

This is an operating system setting, just like for any other file type.

Not helpful.  Never had this issuse with any other file type.  This issue just started with Adobe.  Where do I go in the OS to change that?

Sorry for the troubled experience. Could you elaborate on how "Adobe" is Reading your documents? Since Adobe is not a product, which product are you using?
