Removing objects in a text box

Hello, this is a maybe a dumb question but what is the best way to remove an object in a text box without selecting the text box? I know for the second box, I can just click and delete but I'm having a hard time selecting the first box. Any answers are greatly appreciated.

Move the box to another location on the page, delete the graphical element that's below it, then move it back.
