We are on SAPGUI 7.40 patch 16 Hotfix 1 but have been having this issue with previous versions of 7.40 also.  We've had this issue for a while and through working with SAP support and using the ADPlus utility we determined it is a problem associated with EScript.  The stack trace looks like:

SAP says it is an Adobe issue - not SAP GUI.  Any ideas?

Hello James,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, the SAP GUI for Windows is crashing in Acrobat Pro DC 2015, Is that correct?

Would you mind sharing the complete workflow you take to determine the crash issue along with a screenshot of the error? To share the screenshot, refer to https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-7043#jive_content_id_How_do_I_attach_a_screenshot

Also, share the version of Windows installed?

Please try repairing the Acrobat from help>repair installation, reboot the machine and see if this brings any difference.

If the issue persists, please use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove Acrobat Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine and install Acrobat from Download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC | Non-subscription

If possible, try Acrobat in a different test user profile with full admin rights and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

User is working in SAP and viewing an image via SAP SDV transaction - and occasionally all SAP sessions including the original SAP Logon pad screen all disappear suddenly.  It is not possible to get a screen shot.  There is no error message usually.  SAP support had us run the previously mentioned Microsoft utility ADPlus to debug the issue.  In that case we start the utility and it captures what was occurring when SAP sessions crash.

We are running Windows 10 Enterprise version 1709 OS Build 16299.309 (64 bit).

We have rebuilt the PC twice and additionally reinstalled Adobe and that has made no difference.

We will try the different user profile suggestion.  Thanks again.

If you have any other suggestions please let me know - otherwise I will update this when we have anything new to add.

Greetings All,

I am running into a similar issue when displaying Adobe forms using SAP GUI 7.50, Patch Level 4. This appears to be an issue related to the Adobe software.

Could you please share information on how to resolve this issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Bets regards,

Mirela

Has there been a solution for this issue? We are experiencing similar behavior with SAP GUI 7.50. SAP will crashing completely without notice.

We are having exact same issue seems like.  In our SAP GTS environment when we display a document users with Adobe Pro DC the GUI crashes with no error message and boots you out but users with Adobe Reader do not have the issue.  Any suggestion or resolution?

I'm having this exact same issue now.  Multiple users with Acrobat DC pro, latest version, are having the exact crashes described above when attempting to view documents through the SAP GUI.  I have tested this with SAP GUI 7.5 and the latest version of SAP GUI 7.6 patch 8 (I believe it is).  When just using Reader and NOT having pro installed it works great, but these users need pro to be able to update some of the documents.  This is causing a major problem.

We have even tested with multiple different Windows 10 patch/update levels to ensure that it wasn't a windows caused issue.

It started approximately 2 weeks ago out of the blue with no real changes to the user laptops.  I'm guessing that an auto update for adobe came through and caused the problem.

Brandon we were able to resolve the issue by installing the Free Adobe Reader DC version for the folks that only had Adobe Pro DC and this resolved the issue.  So they now have both Adobe Pro and Reader installed on their machines.

Unfortunately, that's how we had these users originally setup.  They were working just fine with reader as default and pro for editing until about 2 weeks ago when the crashes started happening.  IT didn't touch their laptops.

Once we remove pro from the laptops the crashes stop, and when we install it again the crashes start back up.

I'm at a loss as to what to do other than to start looking at another PDF editing application unless adobe support can help.

thanks for your response Travis

What happens if you disable the Internet Explorer integration from Acrobat Pro DC?

And set as default the new MS Edge browser which is a Chrome based web browser?

Has anyone tested with this?

This issue has pop back up for us as well. We experiences this issue back in November of 2020. The update provided by Adobe worked at that time but the issue has come back again. No changes to our SAP GUI, no changes to the windows machines other than standard Windows updates. This is a Adobe DC Pro issue as just like before if you remove the application from the machine and just leave Reader it works flawlessly. The moment Pro is introduced back on the systems the crashes start again. I've tried all of the steps that were provided to me last go around and nothing is working. Has anyone else seen this issue pop back up for any of their users?
