New Here ,

Hi

I have Adobe Acrobat DC.

Using Microsoft Word, when i use SaveAsPDF, even if i force the Font under options "always embed this font" the pdf does not contain it.

But if i use the Acrobat PDF Printer, the font get embedded.

Is this some kind of bug?

With Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, there are two ways to create PDF other than printing to the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance.

If you are using the Microsoft native “save as PDF” function, there are numerous bugs associated with font embedding, one of which is that OpenType CFF fonts (as opposed to OpenType TrueType fonts) are never embedded.

If you are using Acrobat's PDFMaker plugin which provides a “save as Adobe PDF” function, assuming you set the joboptions correctly (such as High Quality Print or any of the PDF/A options), all fonts will be properly subset-embedded assuming that the font in question is not restricted against embedding. Assuming that the font(s) did get properly embedded when printing to the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance, then the font in question is not restricted against embedding.
