Script error when signing into new installation of Acrobat

New Here ,
Oct 28, 2024 Oct 28, 2024

I'm getting the script error below when trying to sign into a new installation of Acrobat Pro 2020.  This is the second of two installations under the same license.

Any thoughts on how to get past the error?

Getting the same error here - fresh install of Windows 11.  Contacted "Support" and was told this is a known issue with "Business networks" - Vineet told me to change our password during login of the registration.

Asked him what the password had to do with the error since the script error comes up before the oAuth.  Was then told to reset my internet settings and try a different connection.  Told him we've already done that.  Then he disconnected.

Stellar support from Adobe.. Maybe certain things should not be outsourced.

Spoke with Adobe's "chat support" again this morning. They have no solutions - their book basically just says "reset the password" - guy I talked with said he is escalating the ticket, and to expect a reply within 24-48 hours.

I'll follow up again if they come back with a proper resolution.

Hi All,

Apologies for the trouble you are facing using Acrobat.  The issue is under investigation.

Meanwhile please try creating the following registry key and see if the issue is resolved and you can login successfully.

Setting registry

1. Open Registry Editor from Windows Start menu

2. Navigate to path Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\2020\Activation

3. On the right side panel, right click and select New->DWORD

4. Type the name of the key, IsAcroLicCEFDisabled

5. Keep the value as 0

Post setting this registry, try launching Acrobat and login.

Regards

Ravi

This crap of a software doesn't even work using this wonderful workaround, endless loop of Login --> License Application does nothing -> Login -> License Application does nothing. Not to believe that this more than expensive software which can be replaced by 10 freeware tools does not even succeed with it's activation...

We are in the same boat here, been struggling to get 60+ new machines registered. Seems like every day its a new problem. I am guessing Adobe doesnt want people using the perpetual license.   The script on their site needs to be reverted back or fixed. As this registry change doesnt work for us.

THANK YOU!! If only I had found this solution BEFORE I completely reset the PC I was installing Acrobat 2020 on, only to still have the javascript error put the system back into the sign-in death spiral of doom again. Adobe needs to get this issue resolved, since it obviously isn't a one-off and you have a working fix for it.

If you're running acrobat dc you need to run update 24.002.20933 B1 to fix it. Reboot after and test!

We had the same error message last year (2023) and used this workaround:
"Navigate to the folder C:\ProgramData\Adobe\OperatingConfigs.

If the OperatingConfigs isn't already present, create a new folder with the same name.

In the OperatingConfigs folder, create an empty file with the name EnableIEBrowserWF.CONFIG"

Today we had some users experience the error again.
After some research and try & error we removed above workaround and now it's working for them again.
If you maybe also applied this workaround try removing it.

Hi Mary-Beth,

This sounds identical to the problem I was having and it followed my attempted upgrade installation of WIndows 11 (it failed) and the installation of PhotoShopElements 2024.

I am running 2020 Release (Classic) version 2020.005.30730.

I tried following a solution provided by jameso32010578 but I suspect I did not follow the instructions precisely.

I did a couple of uninstalls and reinstalls

I reached out to Adobe technical support and am still waiting a response.

One last try:

I ran CCleaner over my machine including the registry clean-up tool. It identifed some erroneous registry items associated with Acrobat 2020 and removed them.

I rebooted

I was able to re-install Acrobat 2020 with success.

I wish you luck.
