Select Fields for Calculation box is empty?

New Here ,
Jan 16, 2017 Jan 16, 2017

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and trying to create a simple calculation that is the sum of other fields.

When I select this option the box for selecting the fields is empty?
I've exported to PDF from an Indesign document

This was working correctly before I upgraded to the latest version of CC.

None of the forums match my exact query and none of the answers there have helped??
Please help!!!!!!

Hi Karina: I'm going to move this question on Acrobat fields from the non-technical Lounge forum to the Acrobat forum to get you an answer.

I can see the problem in the screenshot. But will it be possible for you to share the pdf file with us so we can try to reproduce the problem or  provide you a resolution?

So I was just preparing the PDF to send you - taking off the clients branding, page numbers and buttons and exporting just one page - this then worked? so I was able to select fields for the calculation

I then exported the whole 10 pages to test this, with graphic elements and interactive buttons on another layer. This worked at first but is now crashing Acrobat when I try to add in the calculation?

So I prepared the 10 pages into 2 seperate PDF files of 5 pages each - this was fine - as soon as I try to have 10 pages of PDF form it crashes Acrobat to create the calculation - I'm pretty certain now there is nothing wrong with my fine but an error with the programs ability to handle the number of pages in the document.

Karina,

Is it anyhow possible for you to share the 10 page pdf file with us so we can try to replicate the problem/crash at our end ?

If I can send in a private message rather than a forum I can - as when I take off the company branding the problem doesn't replicate.

Please advise. Thanks

Sure. You can mail the form at adixit@adobe.com.

1. Can you also share the steps as to how are you removing the company branding from the file?

2. Please share both the files on the mail, one with the branding, and one without the branding.

3. Also please share the crash stack. You can get the same by clicking "Report..." followed by "Show details" button on the crash dialog.

LATEST

My advice: Don't create your form fields in InDesign. I've encountered problems with such fields several times already in the past.

This mostly manifests itself in fields appearing on the page but aren't accessible in Acrobat using a script (or the fields selection dialog).

InDesign is doing a pretty bad job at creating PDF form fields, and it really needs to be fixed by Adobe.
