Select Tool Set to Default Automatically

New Here ,
Aug 11, 2022 Aug 11, 2022

Hi,

Since this week, the Select Tool is being set to the default when I open a PDF. Is there a way to chenage it back to the Hand (Pan) tool? I have tried checking and unchecking the "Always display the keyboard selection cursor" option under the Accessibility settings, but it doesn't seem to to anything to fix this issue (Select is still the default everytime I open and close PDFs).

Thanks!

Hi Rahim,

Thanks for reaching out.

Have you started noticing this change in behavior after installing any update?

To set Select tool as default, make sure that you have the following settings Disabled.

  • In Edit>Preferences>Accessibility>Uncheck "Always display the keyboard selection cursor">Click OK (this was unchecked by default)
  • In Edit>Preferences>General - Change Touch Mode to Auto-detect(If it is set to Always)

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hi Akanchha,

Thank you very much for the reply. I have tried both settings, but they do not fix the issue. I noticed that the issue started right after the 2022.002.20191 update. I am wondering if there's a way to go back to the previous version (at least until this issue is resolved).

Thank you

This does not fix it. Why does every thread say this when it doesn't work???

Hi @Matt2623270303hm

Please check the correct answer marked in the similar thread https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-reader-discussions/set-hand-tool-as-default/m-p/13216853#M943... and see if that works.
