Selecting overlapping markups in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

New Here ,

Hello guys, does anyone know how to select markups when they overlap ? We use text callouts, but when there is a text highlight that overlaps the callout, you can not select the callout, the text highlight gets selected first. Is there anything I can do ? Can the highlight be 'sent to back' ?

Thank you in advance, Martin

One correction to my previous post: if there are overlapping markups, the one that was added most recently is the one that gets selected first. (I stated earlier that text highlight gets selected first when it overlaps text callout).

Some solutions below. These are best accomplished when the comments pane is visible:

  • Since the data is already highlighted and has at least one text callout, enter your remarks in the highlight's commenting box using the comments pane and delete the text callout(s) since they are now superfluous.  Or vice versa, select the text callout and delete the highlighting.  Either approach reduces screen clutter and file bloat.  Superfluous comments complicate Acrobat functions (searching, filtering, etc.), adds to the file's size, and extends file opening/closing times.
  • Alternatively, select both the highlighting and text callout (using Shift-Click), right click, and Group the comments. Further selection of the group allows remarks to be added and available whichever either comment is selected.
