Separating a pdf file by format (A2/A3/A4)

Hi,
I deal with huge files with thousands of pages and they're usually consisted of pages in more than two two formats. Larger files are plotted and A3/A4 go to a regular printer. What would be the easiest solution to quickly print it all, without manually selecting pages to be sent to each device? My guess is splitting the file by format and then just printing each file separately so how would I do that?

Thanks!

Did you try the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in the Print dialog?

If that doesn't work it's possible to do what you described using a script.

Thank you for answering.

That works for one printer, so only A3/A4 combo. A2 and higher need to be plotted so it's a different device.

Can you tell me more about using a script for the task?

If you're interested, I could develop for you (for a fee) a script that will do that, including the option to insert the printer-name to use into it so that it goes to the right one automatically. You can contact me privately via [try6767 at gmail.com] to discuss it further.
