Hi Adobe community
We've recently run into problems because the 'Sign-in' button inside Adobe DC Pro uses an Internet Explorer process, and our organisation has blocked IE due to it being antiquated and insecure. So when we try to sign-in, the popup window doesn't load, preventing users from using the app.
We have a workaround in place which was to allow the Adobe URLs through the block policy, however this is not sustainable. With Microsoft due to retire IE completely in June 2022 - are Adobe apps that require sign-in just going to be rendered unuseable after this? What is Adobe doing to address this issue? In 2022, months after Adobe announced end of their support for IE in Adobe Online Services, it is crazy to see that their flagship app still uses IE and that there's no option to just use your default browser for the signin!
Cheers

I've been using Acrobat Pro signatures for many years and never had to use IE…

Hi JR - i'm not talking about signatures here, I'm referring to the process to sign into your Adobe account. When you open DC Pro, it pops up a window asking for your credentials. If you exit this window, the app exits. You can't tell from the window itself, but it's an IE process. Therefore if you block IE, this window does not display boxes to enter your credentials, rather it throws an error. This means the user cannot enter their creds and therfore cannot use the app.

In Windows, you can check your settings (if the IT Team allows you to) and make sure the 'Association' of web activity is only with Edge (or other software)
>> Settings >> 'Choose a default app for each type of file'

Hi Eric - see above response to JR - i'm not talking about association of file types that you can open in DC Pro. By 'sign-in' i'm referring to the fact that users cannot enter their credentials to log into their Adobe account when they open the app, resulting in them not being able to use the app at all. The 'sign-in' popup window with credentials is an IE process. See this old thread - i'm referring to the same problem - Stop using Internet Explorer for application logins – Share your feedback on Acrobat DC (uservoice.c...

This is the same issue for editing PDFs saved on SharePoint Online. When you go to Home > Add an Account > Add under SharePoint Site in Acrobat, you cannot add a SharePoint site unless you have signed into SharePoint in IE first. Signing into SharePoint with other browsers, including the new Edge Chomium, does not work.
I called support to find out what other solutions there are since IE will be end of support on June 15, 2022 and their response was yes, that is how to add a SharePoint site. Not helpful at all. My expectation is that you will not be able to edit PDFs from Acrobat when, not if, Microsoft removes IE from Windows.
If somone has a solution for this, please let me know. Thank you.

I recall accessing your OneDrive files from Acrobat requiring a similar process as SharePoint (Microsoft hosts OneDrive on SharePoint). I just tried to access my OneDrive from Acrobat (Home > Add an Account > Add under OneDrive) and a new tab was opened in my default browser (Google Chrome) to sign into Microsoft 365, which is different from what I remember the process being to access OneDrive. I now have some hope that Adobe is working towards removing IE from their Acrobat products. Fingers crossed.
Additional Info - I'm using Acrobat DC 22.001.20085.

Just tried this and can't get it to work for me either. Going to be fun seeing what works and what doesn't after IE disappears.

Hi Cameron, did you ever find a resolution for this?

Updates:
1. We were able to use IE mode in Edge to sign in to SharePoint to be able to add SharePoint sites under Other file storage on the Home tab. This replaced using IE to sign in to SharePoint, so Acrobat could connect to the sites. Using IE mode for SharePoint broke some features in the modern SharePoint Online interface. Even if IE mode wasn't going to be discontinued in Edge, this still isn't a long-term solution. You can at least use a GPO to enable/force Edge to use IE mode for SharePoint if you have a lot of people that need this feature.
2. There must be a Microsoft 365 tenant setting or Windows setting that prevents Acrobat from using modern authentication to sign in to SharePoint. We migrated our M365 tenant to our parent company's M365 tenant and now Acrobat using modern authentication to sign directly in to SharePoint (i.e., it opens the M365 sign in window showing the accounts linked in Windows with the option to add another account). The migration required us to remove our computers from Azure AD, remove all the linked M365 accounts from Windows, and then add the new account back to Windows. Even though our M365 accounts did not change, the tenant they authenticated to did change, and that's why we had to remove everything related to the old tenant. This was done under Windows Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
Hopefully, the workaround in #1 helps people now that IE is end of life and that #2 can point people in the right direction to figuring out what the actual fix is. Good luck to everyone stuck with needing IE to access SharePoint from Acrobat.

In the short term you'll need to unblock IE for that paticular sign in. Which stinks but it is what it is for now. I would imagine Adobe will have it updated (to Edge probobly?) shortly.

I too am having this same issue with my copy of Adobe. My situation is that i had to flash the OS on my machine and now after isntalling Adobe I am required to Sign in at inatial program start up. This seems to require the use of IE however since windows 10 is pushing everythign to edge now this doesnt seem to intergrate with the sign on process leading to a failure and ultimatley an inabiliy to use this software.
Any advice on hwo to either disable or bypass this part of the sign in process or how to manually process this?
Thanks
