Spiral binding graphics on my PDF pages

Community Beginner ,
Mar 11, 2019 Mar 11, 2019

All of a sudden, my PDF for a booklet contains what looks like spiral binding graphics on the side of the pages. I didn't change my setting or anything. I've never seen this before. How do I shut those off?

Ok, we can be pretty sure it’s an InDesign thing. So I suggest you post now in the InDesign forum.

Here is a screenshot of two pages from the PDF (book created in InDesign). My guess it's some setting in the InDesign document rather than a PDF issue?Screen Shot 2019-03-12 at 5.17.59 PM.png

They have never shown up before on any PDFs I've made from my InDesign files. Why now and how do I save the PDF without them?

How exactly do you make the PDF from InDesign? What method do you follow (what do you click) and what settings do you choose?

I choose "FILE" then "EXPORT", then "Adobe PDF (print)", then "SAVE". This is the dialog box it takes me too. Then I choose Export. This is the same way I have saved PDF files for years through numerous InDesign versions, without any issues. Is there another way?Screen Shot 2019-03-12 at 7.04.16 PM.png

That all looks good. Let's look into the app from which you took the screen shot. You cropped that out, so what is the app you are using? Not what you have installed, but the app in use at that moment?

Because many people get messed up on this: I wasn't asking what app you have but which PDF viewer was actually in use at the instant of the problem. Don't assume that HAVING Acrobat means it will be used. Of course, they might be the same.

If you ARE opening in Acrobat, please try opening a BRAND NEW PDF - never opened in Acrobat ever - in Preview. What do you see?

Okay, I created a PDF as always, but rather than click on it to open, I previewed it. Still see the spiral binding art.
