Status: Could not save the shared review-enabled PDF file error

Community Beginner ,
May 04, 2020 May 04, 2020

I have been sending pdf proofs for the last 2 years with no issues. a week ago this error started. Everything acts normal until I send the email and this error pops up. I have attempted the repair installation, reinstalled, even attempted to send from a different computer to no avail. I am using the current version with no additional updates available. Email is being sent via outlook as a link versus an attachment.

Heres the odd part. When I do a reinstall it sends 1 file no problem and then errors out on everything after that.

Any help would be much appreciated. This is driving me nuts.

Hi there

we are sorry for the trouble and the delay in response. I hope you would be able to fix it by now.

If the issue still persists,

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC

Make sure you have the latest version 20.009.20065 installed go to Help > Check for Updates.

If it still doesn't work, please create a new test user profile on Windows with full admin rights or enable the root user account on Mac and try using the application there and check

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal

version 20.009.20065

Ive done a new user and even went to a completely different computer and still have the issue. The very first time I send once installed works jsut fine. After that it fails in the same way. I even attempted to see if my indesign file was exporting odd and used all of the presets with the same response when sending.

Some more info on what is happening: Once closed after failing; if I navagate to the folder on the server for the review the review file is there along with a folder. I had some reviewers try to add comments to this file and they get no comment tools at all.

Thank you

Hornedone

After a LOT of trial and error I have narrowed down to a few possible areas that are causing the problem.

1. When making a pdf in illlustrator or indesign if I choose pdf/X-1a:2001 preset it will guaranteed fail. If i instead choose high quality it will send.

2. My preset sending setting in acrobat will not work a second time after the initial sending. If I use the exact same information a la the location, how it sends etc but as a non preset it will send about half the time.

3. If i do not remove the presets after 4 new presets it will continue to fail even when new presets are made.

4. The sending seems to fail in 3 spots: saving the file on the server location, making the comment folder in the same location or saving the review copy on my computer. I have had it do any combonation of the 3.

So whats the fix I get this message as well. I was able to generate a single PDF review via my own network drive but when I tried to create another review with a separate pdf I get an error message:

No reply or solution at all. I was forced to stop using pdf proofing because of it. Its pretty clear that Adobe cant or wont address this. Sorry man.

I got the same error when I tried to set up a Shared Review PDF on a network drive.  But when I set it up on my local computer, it saved the PDF file fine.  The network drive and local drive are within the same LAN (local area network).

Anybody wanting or willing to try tackling this problem again? I'm having it on Win 11 running version 2023.008.20470.

I've had the shared review feature working fine on SharePoint for a while, but today it started doing this dadgum error again. Believe it or not, the last time this happened I tried it on another SharePoint "subsite" in our domain and it worked great. Another time it failed, I tried it again the following morning back on the original "subsite" and it worked.

This is just too valuable a feature to walk away from.

Hi @TCBill

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

As you have the most recent version of the application, would you mind sharing the Adobe CC logs https://adobe.ly/3u93CaZ and Procmon logs (Win Only)  https://adobe.ly/48JzPEX for further investigation.

Hi there

Sorry for the delayed response.

I cannot track the logs you uploaded to the portal. Would you mind sharing the name of the log files that you have uploaded to the log collector portal for identification?

Regards

Amal
