Acrobat 2017. I am trying to tag, when I select some text and try to make it paragraph etc, nothing happens. Other tags, when viewed in the tag tree, just say path.
Anyone have any ideas, or use Acrobat 2017.

If you see the word path (or sometimes pathpathpathpath) as either a tag <path> or in the yellow content box, that means that content is a vector path graphic, like a logo or illustration (not a raster or bitmapped photograph).
From your description, it doesn't look like your PDF was made correctly; it might be a graphic of the content, not live text.
If you want to tag something, the best tool is the Touch Up Reading Order tool (DC:2017) now called the Reading Order Panel (DC:2018).
FYI, this tool and process was greatly improved and expanded in DC:2018 and I strongly recommend you upgrade the software.

Hi, I am aware of all you say. I have been making these for a long time in Acrobat XI.
I have Acrobat 2017. I am tagging text correctly. Example, I tag 'My name is Murray' as text. When I look in the tags panel and select it, it selects 'My name is Murray' but the tag says pathpathpath, but it should actually be the text that is tagged.
I converted this from MS word myself. A lot of the text says pathpathpath in the tag tree, yet selecting it, does show the text in the pdf.
Is DC 2017 different than Acrobat 2017? I am told the only diff,,,,,if it is in the package it is DC 2017, if bought seperate it is called Acrobat 2017.
Is there now a DC 2018? When did it come out?

Did not mean to insult your expertise!
Couldn't tell what your level was from your post, and since this is an open forum where these posts are read by everyone for years to come, those of us who volunteer here try to be a complete as possible. Some newbie will read this in the future.

Something is not right. If its tagged as text, then you shouldn't see pathpathpath. Text is live text, not a vector graphic.
So just a couple of questions:
What version of Word did you use to create the source document?
How did you make the PDF form Word?
If possible, can you take a screen capture of File/Properties, Description tab? This tells us a lot about the file itself.
And can you take a screen capture of the pathpathpath tag in the tag tree?

Acrobat 2017 is the standalone desktop version of Acrobat (non-subscription).
Acrobat DC:2018 is the latest version of Acrobat, but it's by subscription only. I believe Adobe has ceased releases of the desktop versions. https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/acrobat/pricing.html
DC:2018 was released in the fall, November IIRC, with an update this spring. Many new tools for accessibility, improvements.

Hi, you did not insult me, I appreciate your detailed reply.
I use office 2010. I used the Word ad-on 'Create PDF and Run Action / Make Accessible
I attached an image of properties / general. Also an image shows selected text, but pathpath in tag tree.

Maybe this is easier. I do a ton of PDFs. I get MS Word docs from a department. I convert to PDF and make accessible. All MS Word docs are text. There are never graphics or images other than the header and footer. Those are tagged for design (artifact).
Since I installed Acrobat 2017, some PDFs that I convert, do not keep it as text and will only display as text when I am in Edit Text mode. If I go to any other mode (prepare form, reading order etc) they turn to image of test. Even though the original word doc is text.
On those PDFs, the tag panel says pathpath. This makes sense if it is an image. But why does it change from text to image while converting and then depending on the mode I am in, it will be either text or image?
You would think an odd document, but this has happened on random files.
Also, right now I can't close the touch up reading order tool. I click close, nothing happens. Through playing around, the TURO will close if I click the X (top right) but today the close button does not work.
There are a number of other annoyances I have noticed with Acrobat 2017.
ACROBAT = QUIRKY = time and money lost.

Depending on how you choose to edit in Acrobat, sometimes it will scan your pdf and turn the entire page into an image on its own, thus the entire pdf page becomes an image and is listed as such in content view. Could this be what's happening to you?
