I'm using Windows 11. I've used Adobe Acrobat Pro for many years but recently upgraded to Windows 11 and am wondering if my issue is related. Using multiple monitors (extended view) when I open a pdf file on one monitor there is one icon in the taskbar showing my open file name as expected. If I MOVE this pdf document to one of my other monitors the taskbar DUPLICATES and shows two open files with the same name even though I only have ONE document open. If I move it to the third monitor sometimes it shows in triplicate. This is visually distracting and uses up my taskbar space. If I open a second document it is very difficult to tell which file to toggle back to as the "phantom" files don't react if I click on them.

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry to keep you waiting.
If you are still experiencing this issue, please update the application to the recent version 23.08.20555 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Also, check for any pending/missing updates for Windows OS and try updating it and check.
Let us know how it goes.

@sprinklr-integration-user, I have the same issue, running version 2024.001.20604. Suggesting reader and Windows updates is a copout that avoids resolving the issue. I remember a similar issue with Adobe products many years ago, and it seems to have returned.
In any case, I chose to check for updates and got this message:
In typical Adobe fashion, it provides no meaningful information, and if I click on "Details," it takes me to a generic Release Notes page: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html.
If I try to update, I get an equally helpful error message:
I'm typing this via an active website, so the only connection problem is Adobe's. So, my version is more recent than the one you suggest, and Adobe is unable to update further, so what's the next step?

I'm now on 2024.005.20320 64-bit and still have the same problem. it was reported a year ago, and it's nothing but crickets from Adobe.

Over a year later, still an issue. Whenever I open a PDF using Acrobat it seems to show two tabs of the same file on my taskbar. Opening either just shows the same window. This stacks if I have multiple tabs of PDFs.

Same issue. Is Adobe listening? Or is this just an echo chamber?

Having the same issue here. No response whatsoever from Adobe? This is expensive software....

I have had this same issue for over a year now, and Adobe has seemed completely uninterested in resolving the issue. Extremely frustrating especially considering the cost of the software.

Hi,
We are also having this issue for Windows 11 (Server 2025 standard) for a remote user with 3 monitors. Bumping this thread for a hopeful solution from Adobe.

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.
We've escalated this issue to our engineering team, and they’re actively working on a fix. While we don’t have a specific timeline just yet, we’ll make sure to keep you updated as soon as we have more details to share.
Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.

Thanks, Amal. I am still continuing to have this issue as well, and it has been at least at least a year now with no fix. I appreciate the escalation, but honestly, I cannot understand how a problem like this should take more than a year to resolve. Now that the issue is escalated, I sure hope Adobe can fix it, especially considering the annual cost of the software for both me and likely most of the others who have commented in this and other similar threads.

The Same... this Bug is only by Adobe Reader + Microsoft Firefox and only on Windows 11
I used 3 Monitors and when open Adobe Acrobat on 1 Screen, it's ok.
When change the Window to the next Screen, is open more Tabs on Taskbar.
Only Soluton was... change to the Main-Screen or Close and re-Open the Application.
I hope Microsoft or Adobe + Mozilla can this fix.

This continues to be an issue as of 9.2.2025. @adobe support - Stopp replying with "Adobe is working on a fix and will go live soon". Your "soon" is relative at best. My soon, much like the rest of those complaining here, was in 2024. More than a year later, and Adobe still has no resolution. If we could afford to drop this software, I would recommend doing so just based off poor support by the supposed "engineers" at Adobe. Shame on Adobe for continuing to charge such high prices for this software and let trival issues like this go unresolved for well over a year from reported date.

Agreed, Matt! Where is the accountability? Adobe needs to provide a firm date to correct this an execute.
"We're working on it" means nothing.
