Text field

I am trying to add a numeric value to a text field on an order form in acrobat.  Have done it in the past, but can't figure out how to do it again.  I need it to provide the dollar cost of an item for calculation.  I don't know Java Script but if I am given a formula could probably follow it.    The text box name is $10.50.  Thank you.

The order form has 21 items. One column is the quantity needed and it works
fine. The 2nd column is the cost of the items and this is the one I am
having problems with. The 3rd column is the calculations and they work
fine.
I was able to copy some of the text fields from last year's form which is
how I know they work. I just can't figure out how to get the numbers
included in the text fields. Tried adding text blocks but no help.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Theresa

You want to write value in text field?

If you copy fields from another file, make sure fields are not 'read only' by using 'Prepare form' tool and right click field and select field 'properties', in 'General' tab on lower right look at where it say  'Read Only' and make sure little box is unchecked.

They are not read only. What I need to know is how to enter the number in
the text field. Do I use the calculate tab, or validate, or something else?

Here is your file that you shared in another post, I added fields and script to calculate totals, just enter quantity and price, and it should calculate. Let me know if that's what you wanted.

This is a bad name for a field. Use a meaningful name, not one with special characters (like "$") or just a number. Something like "Cost1". Then you would be able to use it more easily in the built-in Calculation options.
