Text / all words are missing from PDF when opened on mac in adobe (paid software). These text and words show on iPhone. Computer and software are up to date. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I figured out a work around. Open the PDF in preview on your mac. Then save as a PDF. I was able to view the text by doing this. Not sure how this worked, but it allowed me to continue with working on my PDF.

I am right there with you! I cannot open any documents and edit them. This is why I purchased the software. Everything on my Macbook is updated, including Adobe. I also deleted the app, downloaded and re-installed and the issue persists. Opening it on Adobe's cloud website also makes the situation even worse. However, my PDFs open just fine in the Macbook Preview app.

Have the same problem. Can see the texts in Preview but not in Acrobat (paid version of Adobe). So frustrating!

I really can't believe there is (seemingly) no way to file a support ticket outside of this User Community interface! This is catastrophic for my proposal work and we are expected to just sit here and wait until it might get fixed.

I just got a notification that this is the "right answer" despite using a different company's software to "fix" the problem. I love the quick and dirty resolution, but how outrageous that this thread will probably be ignored by Adobe now.

This is not the right anwser but a workaround which changes the orignal font of the file.
Team is working to fix this issue on priority. It would be helpful if you could share some test pdf ( if possible ) with us to ensure fix is working for your files as well.

Ravi,
While you say this is not the right answer, Adobe's algorithm decided that it was the right answer and notified me via email that it was the right answer (attached). Since there is no public ticketing system for issues, this is all we can go on as consumers of Adobe's products.
I've attached a document that was working on Friday, but does not work as of now.
Are you able to share a link so we can track the progress on this catastrophic bug? What is the timeline to resolve?
Are we able to get money credited back to us since the product we are paying for does not work? Causing a work stoppage?
When my company sells annual subscriptions, we are liable for them to work 24/7 with no downtime. I am sure the Adobe TOS is written very favorably for Adobe and less so for the consumer, but this is staggering. I did not update anything between Friday and Sunday when this stopped working. What an unreliable product. (I've since deleted and re-installed, with no resolution.)

Also having the same problem when saving content from websites that I use for citation in my scientific writing. THis problem is very annoying. I was able to work around it last week by converting to a Word doc using my paid subscription and then resaving as a PDF, but now that's not even working either!!! Opening in Mac Preview and resaving as a PDF also not solving the problem. Frankly, I'm considering trying to find other software to replace Adobe - it's SOOOO unstable all the time - this is just ANOTHER glitch in their software!

The workaround stopped working for me and I cobbled my proposal together on my husband's computer.
Is it really that unstable these days? I was a much lighter user of Adobe Pro for the last year, as I was transitioning jobs. I've
previously used the PC version which never had a problem. Mac user the last couple years.
I started looking at alternatives last night but still need to dive deeper. I can't believe how bad this level of support is for something we pay for. Absolutely no real communication for a business tool. This isn't a video game!

The work around wasn't working for me either, but I figured out that it still works if you do this:
Open in Preview
Click File > Export as PDF
Select Quartz Filter: Reduce File Size
Save and open in acrobat
Hopefully they get this fixed soon...

Same. I use this application daily for work. On Friday, 14MAR2025, I was able to open and edit documents just fine. Now this morning, Monday, 17MAR2025, whenever I attempt to open PDFs, I get pages of horizontal lines with gaping space between them, but no text. Looks like this is an acute issue based on the timestamps on other people;s posts.

Exactly the same problem!!! This is crazy I pay a large yearly subscription for a product that I have to use a work around for...

I'd also like to add that I've used Adobe Pro for the last 15 years of my career very consistently, and I've had some minor feature complaints, but never a catastrophic failure like this. Have y'all ever looked at competitors in this space? Any competitors to try or avoid?

I have been having the same issue since 3/17. When will Acrobat be fixed? We are paying for an application that is not working... this is interrupting my ability to get things done.

Hi All,
We have rolled out fix for this issue. Please update Acrobat Reader to the latest version and try opening the pdf files.

There is still the issue for me in Adobe Acrobat Pro that when I open pdfs, instead of opening in the Adobe Acrobat Pro app, the files actually open in a separate Adobe Acrobat Helper app window instead.
