Transparent checkbox

Community Beginner ,
Nov 16, 2017 Nov 16, 2017

It used to be that when editing a form, I could select a checkbox or radio button, select the color picker of the border or fill, and select Transparent to make that attribute transparent. I don't know when it disappeared, but it's not there in 2017 and 2018.

Am I missing something? Has it moved? Is there a work around? Or can this please be restored as I use it almost every time I employ those types of fields?

It's a bug that was reported to Adobe many times. Hopefully they will solve it soon.

In the meantime you can use this free utility I developed: Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Acrobat -- Set Field As Transparent (FREE)

Thanks for the suggestion - but the October update would not install. I started a chat with Support and finally had to turn control of my computer over to the tech. I had kept old versions of Acrobat, with license, and that seemed to be the problem (Acrobat Pro X). I used at least one older Pro version to which I had added a lot of scripts mainly having to do with signing, saving as, saving and printing. Physically removing the program did not work. The tech removed a number of files, then tried to update. No go. Finally, he downloaded Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool and removed Acrobat DC as a named program. Installation of Acrobat 17.01130105 was what I was left with - Acrobat Pro 2017, which is the version that opens when I select Acrobat DC from the Creative Cloud menu.

I have no idea what I really have. The older Acrobat Pro version 9.5.5 still works for quick review and modifications. The 19.x updater will not run, but the option for "Transparent" for checkbox line and fill now works. Unfortunately, all of the special actions I added for various tool sets disappeared. I still have two pre-Adobe tech bootable backups (not counting Time Machine) and can play around with plist and other things but I sure would like to know why the version that was downloaded by the tech does not show "DC" as the version folder or the "About" for the app. The app in a backup  opens and "About" shows Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

Suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
