Source Sans Pro is our brand font. Suddenly, I can no longer successfully save Word docs with this font as a PDF. Anything in Source Sans Pro ends up as gibberish (see below).
- I was able to to do this until about a month ago.
- I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the font family.
- I've scanned and rescanned for viruses - nothing.
- I've looked into all of the "embedding font" menu options I can find, but nothing has worked so far.
- Trying the "Print As PDF" doesn't work and casues Word to spin for 10 minutes and then crash.
Any suggestions?

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.
Is this an issue with a particular font or with other fonts as well? Please try with a different font and see if that works.
What is the workflow/steps you are doing to create the PDF from Word? A small video recording would be beneficial.
Save as PDF is an MS workflow and not controlled by Adobe. However, Save as Adobe PDF is the correct way of doing it.
Please try to create the PDF from the Acrobat ribbon in the MS Word toolbar and see if that works. For more info.please check the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/creating-simple-pdfs-acrobat.html
If it still doesn't work, please try to save the PDF as described below:
- Open the PDF
- Go to file menu > Save as other > Optimized PDF
- Go to the font tab and check for any fonts to be embedded and try to retain them and check.
