Turn Rulers on by default

Iniciante na comunidade ,

It seems I was able to find old answers for old versions that are no longer valid.

I have the Acrobat reader, version 2025.001.20577 and I don't want to have to turn the rulers on every time I open a file.

Isn't there a default setting? Edit - Perference - General or any other catagory doesn't have a selection.

I hope someone has an answer.

Thank you...

Hello @RoadShow55

I hope you're doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20630, Planned update, Aug 18, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

Reset the app's preferences once and reboot the machine. If the issue continues, use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to perform a clean installation, restart the machine, and install Acrobat Reader.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri | Acrobat Community Team

@RoadShow55 Before you open any PDFs, open your 'Preferences,' Command K (MAC), or Control K (P). Scroll down to Units and Rulers, and their might be a box that you can 'check mark' on rulers. Click on Ok.

After doing this, you should close and reopen Acrobat for the setting to take full effect. From then on, rulers should automatically appear when you open a PDF.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that option is not there.

Other ideas?

Hello @RoadShow55

Thank you for shairng the screenshots. I hope you have tried to install Acrobat Reader cleanly using the Acrobat Cleaner tool. If not, please try it once and reinstall it from the direct download link.

If yes, then ensure the operating system has all the latest mandatory and optional updates installed, restart the machine, and create a test user profile with full admin rights. Install the Acrobat Reader in the new user profile and check.

If the issue continues, please provide the following information: the current version of the operating system on your device and the logs from the affected machine. To collect the logs, download and run the Log Collector tool. Make sure to select all log options and attempt to reproduce the issue. After that, close the Log Collector tool; it will generate the logs along with a log ID. Please share this log ID with us for further investigation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
