I have a licensed version of Acrobat Pro X. I accidentally downloaded and installed Pro XI trial. Now whenever I try to use Acrobat Pro the trial version comes up and wants me to buy it. How can I get rid of XI trial? Just clickingMacintosh HD-> Applications->Adobe Acrobat XI Pro->Acrobat Uninstaller fails, saying that some processes are running.
I am using OS X 10.8.5 (12F45) on my mid 2012 Macbook Air.
I use the Chrome browser.

Hi Edwin Kellogg,
You can try using Adobe cleaner tool. I hope this will help you to uninstall Acrobat XI professional.
To download Acrobat Cleaner tool visit: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

But I am using a Mac and the link was for Windows, not OS X.

I am sorry for that.
You may try this tool http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
If this didn't help. let me know if you have any other paid application of Adobe installed on your machine.

Thanks Ajlan,
I have now removed Acrobat X and XI. How do I reinstall X, which is
supposed to be part of my CS6 package?
Thanks

Hi Edwin Kellogg,
You need to download the complete Creative suite package or if you have disc you can use that to install.
Once you initiate the install for the whole suite you will get one screen where you can check or uncheck any application from suite to get installed.
From that very screen you can choose Acrobat to install.
Regards.

What an enormous pain in the derriere. I may never download another Adobe "trial" product again. Just saying.

I feel your pain. In fact, I have been suffering the same pain for several months. I am happy with Acrobat X and wish I had never downloaded the XI Trial. I still have not found any way to get the XI trial out of my life (i.e., off of my MacBook Pro). Nor have I found any way to make Acrobat X (instead of XI) my default for opening .pdf files. However, after going through the steps listed below, Acrobat X once again "acts like" it is the default application for opening .pdf files. That means now (even though XI STILL shows up as the default when I select "open with") when I click on any .pdf file to open it, Acrobat X opens it, sparing me the MADDENING appearance of Adobe's notice saying my XI trial has expired and I have to buy XI to make that notice go away. If you have found a better solution, please let me know! If you have not, I hope this will work for you:

The cleaner tool worked for me. I am running a Mac. I had uninstalled Acrobat Pro XI and could not reinstall from Creative Cloud because it was telling me I was up to date. The cleaner did the job but really why must this be so hard! It took me much frustration before I found this link.

The Mac version of Adobe Acrobat has had an Uninstaller for several versions now.
1. Shut down Adobe Acrobat
2. Go to /Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/
3. Double click on the file "Acrobat Uninstaller"
4. In the navigation window go to /Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/ and select the file "Adobe Acrobat Pro"
5. Click OK and let the unistaller do it's job.

Please re-read my Jan. 23rd post, Zildjian. In it I stated that I tried what you just suggested and it didn't work. That is still true. Using the cleanup software told to me by Ajlan I have now succeeded in removing both the X and XI versions. My next problem is finding out how to find the X version on the Adobe site and re-installing it.
Thanks,
Ed Kellogg
