There are currently installers for Acrobat and Acrobat Reader 64-bit. They can be accessed via https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/download-64-bit-installer.html. Note that this not general availability and may not support languages other than English in terms of UI.

Also, this is absolutely not an updater. If you want to install th 64-bit versions, you currently must totally uninstall any 32-bit version. Then you can install the 64-bit version.

Note also that any third party plug-ins (such as PitStop, Quite Imposing, etc.) must be re-installed with 64-bit versions of those plug-ins. Not all plug-in makers have updated their plug-ins to have 64-bit versions.

Finally, be aware that contrary to popular mythology, the 64-bit versions of applications (not just Adobe applications) generally don't provide any higher performance than the 32-bit versions, but rather, provide access to larger memory spaces supporting much larger and more complex documents.

Hi @defaultmy5g6p09tpus ,

I branched your post from an unrelated thread about missing characters.

Dear Mr. Isaacs,

Your below explanation is the best in terms of creating awareness, especially for some of us that do not 100% understand the capabilities of 34-bit vs. 64-bit.  Thank you...

Hi, I have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (2019.008.20071) which is 32-bit.

I found out that since my Microsoft 365 is 64-bit, I cannot preview PDF files on Outlook or on Windows Explorer unless I change the Acrobat Pro DC to 64-bit.
Will I have to purchase it again or can I use the same activation key for a 64-bit?

Hi,
That depends on wether your license is a stand-alone licence or part of any subscription plan.
If you have subscribed to the plan for Adobe Acrobat Professional, you can do what you want. Depending on wether Adobe Acrobat Professional 64 bit is available for download, from Adobes download pages or you personal AdobeID-account web-portal, or not.

What I do know is that from within the selv-service application Adobe Creative Cloud there is nowhere to choose between x86- and x64- editions.  Adobe Creative Cloud will match it with your OS, either it being x86 or x64.

In general Adobe has moved form owning software to leasing software (you can choose between monthly and annual)..

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (2019.008.20071)  is an old version. So if you want to switch to Acrobat Professional have to check wether Adobe still allows you to download such old versions.

The closest you can get to buy a stand-alone-edition is to go here and ourchase the Adobe Acrobat Classic with 3 year license (marked with black Acrobat icon):
https://www.adobe.com/products/catalog.html#category=pdf

Else Adobe is focusing on leasing. Offering subscription plans, with either monthly or annual payment periods. As Adobe, like many software vendors, have turned from ownership to leasing
