I'm following this thread as I needed to get the 34-bit version as the plugins I use do not have a 64bit version yet.

I have a full license but I can't see how I can download the older versions of Acrobat.
I'll share if I find a way to do this.

Assuming you are on Windows, the 32-bit version is the default download. One has to do some hunting to find the 64-bit version installer and it is not installed automatically.

If you are on a Mac, the Mac only supports 64-bit in recent versions of the OS.

Hi @Laser22984695prre

TLDR: It did not work for me.

I have a full Adobe Creative Cloud license. I found an installer for an older Acrobat version (Adobe Acrobat 2020) which is most likely to be 32-bit. So yes, it is possible to download an older version but no, my 32-bit plugin still did not work. I am on Windows 10, and I am located in Australia.

See: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/acrobat-downloads.html if you like to try as this might work for you. I downloaded from the second column. If you still qualify for a trial, then just try the software for free. You will find an option for trial/subscription/enter a license key when you download.

I hope this works for you.

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/about-acrobat-reader-dc-migration-to-64-bit.html

"Starting with February 2021 release, 64-bit versions of Acrobat Reader DC, Acrobat Standard DC, and Acrobat Pro DC on Windows are available to download for selected geographies. Now, the 64-bit version of Acrobat Reader DC is available to download for all locales.

If you have installed the 32-bit Acrobat Reader DC application, you will be automatically upgraded to the 64-bit version of Acrobat Reader DC gradually. This upgrade is silent and currently applicable to a limited number of users. You are excluded from the automatic upgrade to 64-bit if you do any of the following:

  • Use an Enterprise or Federated ID to sign in to Acrobat Reader DC.
  • Customize Acrobat Reader DC using the Acrobat Customization Wizard and install it.
  • Install third-party plugins.
  • Install third-party plugins.
  • Disable the automatic updates in Acrobat Reader DC."

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/32-bit-3rd-party-plugins-wont-work-on-64-bit.html
"Adobe will soon release 64-bit Acrobat on Windows 10...

Currently, third-party plug-ins developed using Acrobat SDK work fine on the 32-bit Acrobat application on Windows. To make those plug-ins work on the 64-bit Acrobat, the plug-ins must be upgraded to 64-bit...

The users should contact the third-party vendor to get the plug-in upgraded to 64-bit."

My long story:

  1. I have a full Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) license; the CC suite can be downloaded into 2 laptops.
  2. I got a new Windows 10 laptop for work and last week, I installed CC on this laptop. I noted that the Acrobat Pro DC I got is the 64-bit version.
  3.  Australia, my location, is probably included in the 'selected geographies' where the 64-bit version has been rolled out.
  4. No, I am not happy with the 64-bit at all. When I tried to run my most used plugin (callas pdfGoHTML) the plugin did not install. Instead I got this notification that 32-bit plug-ins only works with 32- bit Acrobat software.
  5. It is essential for me to get this plugin to work in my work computer so I wrote the makers of the plugin if they can provide a 64-bit version or another work-around; all I have received is an automated response so far.
  6.  I found your query today, and I thought if I find an installer for a 32-bit Acrobat Pro, it would resolve my issues and my 32-bit plugin will work.
  7.  I found https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/acrobat-downloads.html and downloaded the Acrobat Pro 2020 version which I assume would still be in 32-bit. I uninstalled my 64-bit Acrobat Pro DC, and the Acrobat Pro 2020 version was successfully installed.
  8.  I downloaded the plug-in and it did not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled both Acrobat and the plugin but still did not work. Aargh!!!
  9. The only light in this tunnel is that if I need work to be done using the plug-in, I will use my older Windows laptop. On this older Windows 10 laptop I already have installed CC including Acrobat Pro DC. Even though the software auto-updates when I checked today, my Acrobat DC on my old laptop remains as 32-bit.
  10.  I wondered why my Acrobat Pro in my old laptop did not auto upgrade to 64-bit. But now I understand why: the Adobe Help article mentioned that "if third party plugins are installed, you are exempted from the auto-upgrade". I have the plugin installed since 2019 so my old laptop was exempt. Yaay!!!

I am hoping that Adobe will not just auto-upgrade like this without notifying the users and offering a choice to upgrade or not. Good luck!

>>>I got a new Windows 10 laptop for work and last week, I installed CC on this laptop. I noted that the Acrobat Pro DC I got is the 64-bit version.

That is not normal behavior--the CC app installs the 32-bit app by default. However, if one uninstalls it and installs the 64-bit version, the CC app will reflect that version and will not change it back. (I'm in the US, so the 64-bit version is available to me--I've installed it as a test and then re-installed the 32-bit.)

Either one has to manually install the 64-bit (on Windows) OR it is being pushed out by one's enterprise IT dept.

What are the plug-ins, by the way? Many plug-ins have 64-bit upgrades available for purchase. Worth checking.

By the way, Acrobat DC (64-bit) is subscription only, you cannot buy the licence outright.

To clarify, in my case I meant subscription, which means I am continuously paying for my access.

Sorry, I was wrong to say license (as in perpetual license) which I think is no longer available for most Adobe software unless you are after the very old versions on a CD. Thanks for pointing that out to remove any confusion.

In my case, the plugin that is important to me is called callas pdfGoHTML, which is available for free. I have contacted the makers of the plugin and I am hoping they will make a 64-bit upgrade soon.

I am not sure what plugins the original poster needed.

Oh, I just receievd the reply from the makers of the plugin: "Unfortunately, the current plugin is not supported with Acrobat DC Pro 64bit.
We are working on this and will let you know when a new version of pdfGoHTML is available."

Following this thread as well

Not all plugins are available in 64bit versions, and few of them even won't be. What are the plans of Adobe in regard to the support of 32bit Version Adobe being installed on a 64bit OS?

Where can the 32bit installer be downloaded for the users which do prefer a 32bit installation on a 64bit OS?

Thanks for answer
