W10 - Adobe not automatically publishing after print to pdf

Guest

Hello,

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC as well as Adobe Reader - w10 vers 1809 build 17763

19.021.20047

When I do a test page or if I print to pdf within either Adobe program on Windows 10, the file will save to the location.  However before, it use to open automatically after I would print or save.

I do not get the option when I go to save as to

"open file after publishing " on this version of Windows

I have updated my versions of both softwares.  I use the Microsoft Print to PDF printer on the Windows 10.  I have attempted to add a new PDF printer and pointed the file to the Adobe .inf file

Has anyone come across this issue before?

Thanks

Use the printer "Adobe PDF".

Hello Mark,

Thanks for the response.

To open the created PDF file after been printed, one needs to select "View Adobe PDF Results" from Preferences for Adobe PDF Printer.

Steps :

  1. Launch Acrobat
  2. Open any pdf file
  3. Click Ctrl+P or Print button
  4. Select 'Adobe PDF' from the dropdown
  5. Click on Prefernces button
  6. Click on Checkbox - "View Adobe PDF Results"
  7. Click OK

Please let me know if you still face the same issue.

Thanks & Regards,

Swapnil Srivastava

Thank you for the reply, there are no options for "Preferences" - just properties and Advanced and none have that option.

PDF Printer: Open "PDF Printer", "Printer => Preferences", click "Printing Preferences..." button, check "View Adobe PDF Results".

Hello Mark,
The concern you reffered to is not an issue; instead it is as design as we already have a specific button named " Save as Adobe PDF" in File menu. Attached is the screenshot for the same.

Untitled.png
The Save button will just make the file save as pdf but will not open in Acrobat as its managed by Microsoft only.
Instead using "Save as Adobe PDF" will work for you if the Preferences in Acrobat is turned on to View Result file.
