Warning Empty Page when Trying to Read Aloud

I have Acrobat Pro for Windows. I have a PDF I want to be read to me. I go to read aloud but it says warning empty page on every page. What can I do? This is an accommodation for my schooling. No scanned documents but actual PDFs.

Reading aloud works for me. But that's a document I created. I would try that first. And I would look into the document properties (crtl d) to see the security settings. Document creators can make documents less accessible:

This is not the issue with the file they shared, and I also got the same results when trying to use ROL on it. It's very strange.

I found the same, Try67.  I was surprised that it did respond appropriately to the Reflow command, which generally behaves as a visual read-out-loud.
