What does the lower left 'Lock' button do exactly? Does it lock the form from being changed or does it lock the form from being used?

What does the lower left  'Lock' button do exactly?   Does it lock the form from being changed or does it lock the form from being used?

It would be great is there was a 'hover' text that popped up explaining exactly what each button actually does.

Hover over 'Lock' and it would say 'Check to Lock others from making changes' or 'Check to Lock this form so it does nothing'.

I know this is a dumb question to an experienced user but I can not find a simple answer in the software.

As already described by "Bernd Alheit" the lock option locks the form field properties and prevents any further changes to the form.
