When exporting a PDF file to Word there are spaces within words

When I export a PDF file to Word, there are many places where the word is separated by a space within that word so, for example,

Thi s is an examp le of wh at ha ppens.

I'm wondering if there is a fix for this?

Hi,

I've been facing the same issue whenever I convert PDF file to Word and so I don't think there is a way to fix this issue... So far I have been removing the extra spaces between the words/ characters manually and sure I will get into trouble if the word count is very huge!!! Any help from others?

Are you creating these pdf files? I suspect it's a font issue. If you have the pdf open in Reader go to File>Properties>Fonts. Do any of the fonts say "Embedded" or "Embedded subset" next to them? If not, that could be your problem. The converter may be getting confused if it doesn't have the font information.

I have experienced the same issue when I tried to convert PDF files into Word files using Acrobat. Also an extra carriage return appeared at each line especially in a table. So far the best way to reduce this phenomena has been to open PDF files from within Word program.

If you don't need to maintain the original format, just copying and pasting works fine, too.

I think it depends a lot on the source. It almost/sometimes  works better when converting a scanned/ocr doc, cause it can't trip over crappy PDF code in the process.

Check the export options, some of those may help.
