When "Combining Files into a Single PDF" the files do not come in file name order, I click on name at the top and they are now in correct order, then as soon as I move some pages all the pages that were not select go out of order again.
This has only started happening since the last update for Acrobat Pro DC to version Build: 1209.008.20071 on a Apple Mac.
We have been doing this for years now as our client supplies us 100's of single page pdfs from a data base system that cannot combine the files into a single pdf, we have never had this issue before until the last update, if there is no fix for this how do we roll back acrobat to a previous update that did work.
below is a snapshot showing the files as they appear when originally brought into "Combine File into a Single pdf", as you can see the file names are not in number order, and if you look at the date modified it doesn't seem to be taking that as the order as even the date modified is not in the correct order.
See snapshot below ofter I select by name and you can see they are now in the correct order and the modification dates are also in order ( which is not important)
I then have to move all the page down as there are filing instructions that have always appeared at the bottom of the list which need to be at the top and when doing this the page list reverts back to the order they were originally brought into acrobat and now the pages are out of order again, see snapshot below
The frustrating part is that this has never been an issue until now and we have to go back and locate all the jobs we have done since and go through them carefully to make sure they are correct and so far w have 50 or more that need to be re-done due to this issues.
What is the reason of being able to put pages into name order and then as soon as you move them the order changes without any reason to do so.
I have check preferences and have not been able to locate anything to fix this issue, I have tried many different ways to join all the files together by bringing in the filing instruction first and then Adding the rest of the pages (100's of pdfs) but the pages still come into acrobat in the wrong order, I have clicked on name where you select the files to bring into acrobat but they still come into acrobat in a different page order to the file naming.
I need some serious help on this is his is a major client and we can't have any issues when printing these jobs.

So--it is 2022--and this is STILL a problem....I have my files in the correct order on the ADD screen--and then Adobe rearranges them into some chaotic mess during the combine. Make the combine feature useless.

We are sorry for the delay in response. I tried to reproduce the issue on my end and its working fine. Would you mind sharing the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.2.20191 Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer.
If it still doesn't work, please share a small video recording of the issue and the steps you are doing.

Doesn't matter what order I have my files tabbed-Adobe opens them in any order it sees fit. AND there is no way to reorder the files when they are in a nice list (like alphabetically or by date). You have to open them, and then reorder by hand. Ok when it is four files...but I need to combine 50 to 900 files.

We are sorry to hear that.
Would you mind sharing the version of the Acrobat DC and the OS you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure it is up to date to version 22.2.20212. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer.
Also, try to reset Acrobat Preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...
You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.
