Where can I find basic information for identifying and correcting 508 Compliance problems?

I purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro solely for the purpose of being able to identify and fix documents that are not ADA compliant.  I am looking for a simple guide or tutorial --for beginners--that can walk me through the steps of making documents accessible and 508 compliant.
